THE RIGHT MATERIALS FOR YOUR NEW ROOF

Replacing your roof with the right materials.

In order to make an informed decision and get the right materials for your new roof, you’ll need to know a little bit about how your roof is constructed.

When replacing a roof you should consider three main parts:

  • Shingles
  • Flashing
  • Underlayment

Starting from the deck of your roof (the large wooden panels attached to the rafters underneath) you place your underlayment across the roof, cutting if there are vents or skylights. Then a starter strip of shingles with a drip edge on the lowest part of the roof. As you place the shingles near-vertical walls or chimneys, shingles become interlaced with the flashing. Then you cover your ridges and hips with ridge and hip shingles.

Material Choices

This is going to largely depend on the area in which your house is located, the style you want your house to be in, and the overall price of your roofing project. Rooftop Designs has a dedicated staff willing to help you find the right roof for you.
